Reservations are not required unless otherwise stated for dining specials and events. We kindly ask that parties of 10 or more call in advance so that we can prepare for your arrival.
Yes, all of our restaurants are open to the public unless otherwise noted for special events, private functions, and seasonal closures.
For rental information and availability, you would visit our Bald Mountain Pro Shop or call them directly at 828.694.3042.
You can fish off our boat ramp dock, which is the dock all the way to the left of the Cabana, near the wedding ceremony location. We do not allow fishing from our boardwalks, bridges, or beach. You can also fish off of the dock at Bald Mountain Lake. A permit is not required for that lake, but it is catch and release only.
Please note: an N.C. fishing permit is required to fish out of Lake Lure, and you would visit NCwildlife.org and follow online prompts to purchase.
Yes, all of our services and treatments are available to members, lodging guests, and the general public. Appointments are required, Inquiries can be made here or by calling us directly at 828.694.3017
The Wellness Center and its facilities are available to members and lodging guests only. We do not offer memberships to use the facilities.
The use of any vehicle or transportation device, whether motorized or unmotorized, shall be governed by this Vehicle Policy.

Each year a considerable project list is developed to address the areas where improvements are necessary to maintain Rumbling Bald’s status as the premier Lake Lure community.

Yes, you can drive golf carts on streets maintained by Rumbling Bald in accordance with the Golf Cart Operation Policy. Please note: Golf carts are restricted on state-maintained roads and the Town of Lake Lure ordinances must also be observed. You can find more information on the Town of Lake Lure Golf Cart Ordinance here which also includes a map showing state-maintained road exceptions. ATVs, motorcycles, dirt bikes, and mopeds are restricted on Association roadways.
Trailers of any kind (including house trailers, boat trailers and/or boats, motorcycle trailers, etc.) and transportable living accommodations will not be allowed to be parked on the property or streets. There is dry storage parking that can be used for these items based on availability and at an additional fee. Please reach out to Member Services to inquire (828) 694-3014).
All exterior modifications require prior approval. You can find the application and other helpful information here.
Modular homes will be considered ONLY if their structural plans and the planned building and installation meet the requirements found in the Rules and Restrictions for single family homes.
Exterior colors must be subordinate in tone to the surrounding landscape. The proposed color must have a Light Reflective Value (LRV) of 50 or less for the body of the home and a LRV of 63 or less for the trim. All proposed color modifications must have prior approval in writing.
For exterior walls, stone, board siding, exterior plywood with battens, or other synthetic materials, provided that such give the appearance and texture of natural wood, may be approved. In any case, the final structure must be of a color and texture in tone with the surrounding landscape. A brick or stone wall with a color of earth tone may be approved. For exterior walls, corrugated metal or shiny metallic and baked glaze finishes will not be approved. For exterior walls, thin imitation stone, thin imitation brick or asphalt shingles will not be approved.
All exposed foundation walls, whether poured concrete or prefabricated walls must be tinted, plastered or painted an approved color. Exposed foundation walls constructed out of concrete block must be stuccoed or plastered an approved color.
Utilities (cable television, telephone, etc.) must be installed underground. All new and replacement fuel tanks (propane, oil, etc.) must be buried.
The primary roof pitch must be a minimum of 8/12.
The size of the house must agree with the current policies and restrictive covenants (i.e., a minimum of 900 square feet on the first level with a total heated livable area of 1,800 square feet)
Out of safety concerns for members, guests, employees, and our property, as well as concerns for individual privacy, Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure prohibits the operation or use of unmanned aerial systems (UAV’s) or drones, by the general public, including recreational users and hobbyists without prior written authorization from Rumbling Bald. This prohibition includes drones used for any purpose whatsoever, whether filming or videotaping or by media or journalists operating above or within our boundaries. This prohibition on drone operations or use extends to any drones launched or operated from our property, as well as drones launched from private property outside of our boundaries. Please contact the Rumbling Bald Security Department, 828.694.3046, if you have any questions or if you have appropriate governmental authorization allowing you to operate drones above Rumbling Bald. Any authorized operation of drones must be in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations, local law enforcement, and US Forest Service rules, as well as those policies separately established by Rumbling Bald. These authorizations, regulations and rules generally require an application to the FAA, certification, training, various restrictions, safety and national security clearances, and a specific limited purpose, as well as insurance coverage, indemnification requirements, and waivers and releases of liability. Any violation of this policy may involve suspension of your privileges, guest’s removal from the property, in addition to penalties or other actions that may be taken by any of the other regulatory agencies noted above.

A valid North Carolina Marriage License may be obtained by contacting the Registrar of Deeds in Rutherford County at 828.287.6155. The office is located in Rutherfordton, a small town about 20 miles from the resort. The office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm. The cost for the license is $60.00, and it must be used within 30 days. There is no waiting period or blood test required. A driver’s license or birth certificate and Social Security card is required for both bride and groom.

Yes, we have had quite a few cute dogs make the walk down the aisle.
Yes, we provide a table for your cake. After you cut the cake and have taken pictures, our staff will cut the cake and serve to your guests. There is a fee for this service. If you plan on saving the top layer, be sure the baker leaves a box for you to take it home.
We have 72” round tables that seat ten people per table or 60″ rounds that seat eight people per table.
Yes, we do offer a taste testing. You can pick up to four items from the menus and bring up to six guests for the tasting. Taste testing appointments need to be made at least two weeks in advance with the wedding sales manager.
No, there are no additional fees for using vendors that are not on the list.
Yes, we have a vendor list with everyone from photographers, wedding coordinators, officiants, DJs, bands, videographers, bakers, and more. This list was compiled by brides that have used and recommended these vendors to us.
Rumbling Bald has to supply the bar items.
All food and beverage must be supplied and served by Rumbling Bald. Our award-winning culinary team has created a wonderful selection of wedding menus in a variety of price ranges. Certain peak dates require food and beverage minimums. You are allowed to bring in your wedding cake or groom’s cake.
Yes. Our Lakeview Terrace can be transformed into an “inside” reception space. We have custom-made transparent panels that cover the windows and openings of the Terrace. These panels block the wind or rain, but are unobtrusive and you will still have the magnificent view of Lake Lure. We also offer heaters for those cooler evenings.
We provide multiple wedding venues that are designed to accommodate weddings as small as 10 people to a beautiful lakeside wedding site that accommodates up to 170 guests. Depending on the size of your wedding, we can schedule all your wedding events at one of our beautiful mountain venues.
Yes! We know wedding budgets vary for everyone, but when compared to most city wedding venues, you will find our rates to be a pleasant surprise as you develop your wedding budget.
Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure is located at 112 Mountains Blvd., Lake Lure, North Carolina. We are approximately 2 hours from Charlotte, 1.5 hours from Greenville, SC, and a 1-hour drive from Asheville NC. Directions
RB does not offer transportation services, however, we do have ample on-site parking for our private events and day of golf cart rentals.
Yes, when renting the Terrace bridal and grooms dressing rooms are provided.
We offer a variety of bar packages that include but are not limited to an open bar for 2-4 hours, cash bar, beer, and wine packages, full open bar, and consumption-based.
In-House Catering (required). No outside food or beverage is allowed in the event spaces (excluding wedding cakes and wedding day desserts)
For your out-of-town guests, our 3000+ acre Community offers a variety of accommodations which include one-, two-, or three-bedroom condos, studios, and beautiful houses to rent, which families wishing to stay together would really enjoy. All our rental units can be viewed on our website at www.rumblingbaldlodging.com – you can see pictures of the units, pricing, and general location. And your guests will receive a 10% discount for their stay during your wedding.

Apple Valley is a no walking facility due to the length between greens and tees. Bald Mountain can be used for walking after 2:00 p.m.
We do not offer a handicap flag for regular usage. Please talk directly to the Director of Golf, 828-694-3040, for any special use or needs during your round.
Yes each course offers practice facilities that include a putting green and a driving range.
Carts need to be returned 30 minutes after sunset. Please check with either pro shop for a current time.
Yes, if applicable. We charge a rider fee of $16.50 for someone to ride along with during your round.
Yes, we offer a four seater, gas, shuttle cart that may be used on the property. Shuttle carts must stay within the security gate, has no access to the golf course paths, and must be operated by a person older than 21. Rental fees are $100 for a 24 hour period and a $100 deposit must be placed when processing the cart. Please call 828-694-3042 to reserve or for more information.

If you do not have a fishing license you can fish on Bald Mountain Lake. If you do have a fishing license in North Carolina, you are welcome to fish on Lake Lure.
Please note, we do not allow fishing from our boardwalks, docks, beach, or bridges.
Anyone 12 or older is required to have a guest pass. Those that are younger than 12, will need to be accompanied by an adult with a pass.
Absolutely, no one will be allowed to access our private beach without a guest pass or member ID. We do not offer day passes to the general public.

All VRI Members are required to download and submit a “Primary Membership Designation Form” before arriving or prefill the form and submit it to Guest Services upon arrival.
This form will be used to register the “Primary Member” and the Member’s household in accordance with the Primary Member Designation Policy, adopted and approved by the Board of Directors on February 20, 2023. A copy of the Primary Membership Policy is available at Guest Services for review. For purposes of completing this form, the following definitions apply:
All Members will receive a member card during check-in.
Anyone in the party who does not qualify as a Member and is 12 or older will need to purchase a guest pass covering the dates of their stay to access the amenities. Passes are $5 per day per guest, and a discount of $1.75 per day is given for all transactions of guest passes purchased by a Primary Member.
To expedite the check-in process at Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure, please either fill out the attached form and email to frontdesk@rumblingbald.com with the subject line “Primary Member Designation Form” or bring it with you when you arrive.
Photo Identification and an active exchange member card are required, and the Primary Member’s name must match the names on both items.
