The mountains and lake are calling and we’re here to help you answer. Miles of hiking trails and endless lake adventures await while you breathe in the crisp mountain air of the Appalachian foothills. Step into the wilderness. Escape to nature.
Please Note: The pedestrian bridge between the Wellness Center and the Beach Area is now open! This allows access to the Pavilion and part of the beach, including the playground. We’ll continue reopening more of the beach over the next few weeks.
Access to Lake Lure is still closed as the Town continues its important clean-up work. They’ve made great progress, but there’s still more to do. There’s no set reopening date just yet, but updates are posted weekly on the Town’s website. Thanks for your continued patience.
In the meantime, we’re glad to welcome you to Rumbling Bald. Golf, dining, wellness, and plenty of ways to relax are all here waiting for you.
Rumbling Bald’s private sandy beach is the perfect spot to enjoy the sun, or to take a dip in the Lake. Bring your own beach gear or rent some at the beach cabana, and enjoy the mountains, the water, the sun, and even the stars. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available to rent at the Beach Cabana.
Hours of Operation: Reopening soon.

New Trail Connects Bearwallow to Wildcat Rock
A new two-mile section of trail just opened in the Hickory Nut Gorge, creating a link between two highly popular trails—the Bearwallow Mountain Trail and the Wildcat Rock Trail. Conserving Carolina cut the ribbon on an extension of the Wildcat Rock Trail, which now reaches the summit of Bearwallow Mountain. To learn more, click here.
In addition to hiking and biking, our fitness trail provides an outlet for a great outdoor workout. The .9 mile loop trail features five workout stations each designed to optimize your workout. View the Fitness Trail Map here.
The Beach
No glass or personal bonfires are permitted at the beach. Dogs must be on a leash or under voice command.
Portions of the beach are now open. Please avoid restricted areas and stay out of the water for now. We expect to reopen more sections of the beach in the coming weeks.
