Apple Valley

Designed by noted golf course architect and Pinehurst native Dan Maples, Apple Valley stretches to nearly 6,800 yards and features expansive views of Bald Mountain and the surrounding Lake Lure area. Maples estimated that 75% of all shots at Apple Valley are either level or downhill, virtually unheard for a mountain course.

  • Five sets of tees starting at 4,617 yards.
  • Eminently playable for golfers of all skill levels.

Bald Mountain

With its varying elevation changes and challenging mix of up and downhill shots, Bald Mountain is a true North Carolina mountain course. The W.B. Lewis designed course clocks in at 6,300 yards and has a unique configuration of 5 par 5’s and 5 par 3’s. Bald Mountain is the ideal complement to Apple Valley offering a decidedly different, yet unforgettable, golf experience.

  • 7:30am – 5:00pm (daily)
  • Five sets of tees starting at 3,550 yards.
  • Small greens and narrow tree-lined fairways.
  • The 16th green is home to a scene from “Dirty Dancing”.

Lessons & Clinics

Book some time with our local golf pro to hone in your game before you hit the links. Get dialed in with a quick lesson before your round or set up a schedule to really work on your form.

LESSONS

  • 1 Hour Lesson $50. Spend an hour on the tee or at the short game area to sharpen our skills.
  • Playing Lesson $150. Spend two hours of one-on-one instruction out on our Apple Valley Golf Course. Includes Greens Fee.
  • Package of Three $100. Purchase three 30-minute lessons for $100. Spread out your time with Greg or Adam and get some quick, effective tips to get you on your way.

Group Play

Rumbling Bald offers the most extensive variety of Lake Lure vacation rentals ranging from attractive private mountain homes to spacious condominiums or comfortable studios. Each of our vacation rental properties comes with its unique qualities, whether a stunning mountain view or just a few steps to the golf course location.

During your round at Bald Mountain, golfers can grab a fresh Starbucks® coffee and a hearty sandwich at The Bear’s Cup Café Bar. If you’re playing at Apple Valley, the Eagles Nest offers quick “grab-n-go” beverages, sandwiches, and snacks during your round. Post round, golfers can relax at Legends on the Lake, for a casual dining experience on the shores of beautiful Lake Lure.

Whether it is a tournament, large overnight group, or small buddies trip, Rumbling Bald’s golf vacation planners are available to assist every step of the way. If it is for business, we can design custom corporate packages including meeting space, catered meals, golf instruction, and off-site activities.
