Out of safety concerns for members, guests, employees, and property, as well as respect for individual privacy, Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure restricts the operation and use of unmanned aerial systems, commonly known as drones.
Unauthorized Drone Use
The operation of drones by the general public, including recreational users, hobbyists, media, or journalists, is not permitted on Rumbling Bald property without prior written authorization. This includes drones used for photography, videography, or any other purpose.
This restriction applies to:
- Drones launched from or landed on Rumbling Bald property
- Drone operations intended to capture images or video of Rumbling Bald amenities, facilities, residences, events, guests, members, or staff for personal or commercial use
Operations from Off Property
While airspace is regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration, the unauthorized use, publication, or commercial use of images or video depicting Rumbling Bald property, amenities, or activities is not permitted without prior written approval.
Authorization Requirements
Any drone operation approved by Rumbling Bald must:
- Be conducted by a properly licensed and insured drone pilot
- Comply with all FAA rules and regulations, as well as applicable local, state, and federal laws
- Meet Rumbling Bald insurance, indemnification, and liability requirements
- Be limited to an approved purpose, time, and location
Approval is granted at the sole discretion of Rumbling Bald and may be revoked at any time.
Violations
Violations of this policy may result in:
- Removal from the property
- Suspension of guest or member privileges
- Additional action as permitted by law or applicable regulatory agencies
