Located on the north end of stunning Lake Lure, Rumbling Bald is one of Western North Carolina’s only multi-course golf destinations. An hour’s drive from Asheville and less than two hours from Charlotte, it features two contrasting 18-hole layouts: W.B. Lewis designed Bald Mountain and Dan Maples designed Apple Valley.
Rumbling Bald is home to 36 holes of the finest golf in North Carolina. Our Bald Mountain and Apple Valley courses wind through our property and act as a connective feature of our community. Enjoy sweeping views of the mountains and lake as you tee off and get to know our renowned courses. There’s no such thing as a bad day on the golf course and that’s especially true here.
Designed by noted golf course architect and Pinehurst native Dan Maples, Apple Valley stretches to nearly 6,800 yards and features expansive views of Bald Mountain and the surrounding Lake Lure area. Maples estimated that 75% of all shots at Apple Valley are either level or downhill, virtually unheard for a mountain course.

With its varying elevation changes and challenging mix of up and downhill shots, Bald Mountain is a true North Carolina mountain course. The W.B. Lewis designed course clocks in at 6,300 yards and has a unique configuration of 5 par 5’s and 5 par 3’s. Bald Mountain is the ideal complement to Apple Valley offering a decidedly different, yet unforgettable, golf experience.

If you’re playing at Apple Valley, the Eagles Nest offers quick “grab-n-go” beverages, sandwiches, and snacks during your round. Post round, golfers can relax at Legends on the Lake, for a casual dining experience on the shores of beautiful Lake Lure.
