North Shore Beach Cabana

The North Shore Beach Cabana is now closed for the season.

Beach Access
Please note that some areas along the shoreline remain restricted. For your safety, we ask all guests to avoid these sections. Lake access is still closed as cleanup efforts continue, led by the Town of Lake Lure.

We are pleased to share that the Town has announced plans to reopen Lake Lure in May 2026. Thank you for your support and understanding as we look forward to welcoming everyone back to the water.

Local Trails Update

Some of our local hiking trails are still recovering from storm damage and may have limited access or temporary closures. For the most up-to-date information, feel free to check in with our team or local resources below before you set out. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope you enjoy exploring the beauty of our area.

Rumbling Bald Private Trailhead

The Buffalo Creek Park Trail System offers approximately five miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. Rumbling Bald’s private trailhead is located at the north end of West Lake Drive. Picnic tables are available at the trailhead and Legends offers box lunches. Please check at the Wellness Center for directions to the trailhead. This map provides directions on how to get to the trailhead from the Wellness Center.

Explore Local Parks And Trails

There are plenty of local trails off the beaten track as well as Chimney Rock State Park with the iconic rock overlook. So grab your walking stick and hiking boots as you head out to explore the trails at Rumbling Bald!

New Trail Connects Bearwallow to Wildcat Rock
A new two-mile section of trail just opened in the Hickory Nut Gorge, creating a link between two highly popular trails—the Bearwallow Mountain Trail and the Wildcat Rock TrailConserving Carolina cut the ribbon on an extension of the Wildcat Rock Trail, which now reaches the summit of Bearwallow Mountain. Fitness Trail

In addition to hiking and biking, our fitness trail provides an outlet for a great outdoor workout. The .9 mile loop trail features five workout stations each designed to optimize your workout. View the Fitness Trail Map here.

Take a dip and relax

Swimming

The Beach
No glass or personal bonfires are permitted at the beach. Dogs must be on a leash or under voice command.

Portions of the beach are now open. Please avoid restricted areas and stay out of the water for now.


Trout Stream Pool & Lazy River

For family fun, check out the Trout Stream Pool and Lazy River, with plenty of fun for everyone, especially the kids. Enjoy the sun by the pool, or the shade under the fan-cooled patio. This outdoor recreational venue includes two outdoor pools, the Lazy River, and a concession stand. It’s the perfect venue to bring the family for a day of fun and relaxation all in one spot.

  • Member and Guest passes are required for everyone 12 years of age and up.
  • We do not sell pool memberships or day passes.
  • No lifeguard on duty.
  • Inflatables are not be permitted in the Trout Stream Pool, only PFD’s.
  • Only personal coolers allowed, all coolers and bags are subject to inspection.
  • No outside alcohol or glass.

Apple Valley Pool

This hidden gem is located off Winesap Blvd. near the Apple Valley Golf Course and tends to be quieter and more adult-friendly.

Wellness Center Indoor Pool:

  • Adult Swim 8-10am
  • Family Swim 10am-7:30pm (daily)
  • Pool area closes at 7:30pm (daily)

Important Guidelines

  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult to use the indoor pool. No one under the age of 12 is allowed in the hot tub, sauna, or steam room.
  • We do not sell pool memberships or day passes.
  • No one under the age of 12 years may use the hot tub. Guests 18 and over only in the sauna or steam room.
  • All coolers/bags, etc. are subject to inspection before entering the pool area.
  • Member and Guest passes are required
  • No lifeguard on duty.

Cast a Line in Lake Lure and Bald Mountain Lake

Fishing

Catch Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Large Mouth Bass, Small Mouth Bass, Crappie, White Bass, Catfish, Bluegill, and Sunperch in the cool mountain waters of Lake Lure and Bald Mountain Lake. With 27 miles of shoreline and access to the Rocky Broad River, anglers of all ages can enjoy a full day on the water.

Guests may also fish at Bald Mountain Lake, located inside Rumbling Bald. This smaller lake has a family-friendly fishing pier and is perfect for children. No license or permit is required here.

A valid North Carolina fishing license is required for Lake Lure and the Rocky Broad River. Boating permits for Lake Lure are issued by the Town of Lake Lure. Visit the Town of Lake Lure website for details on boating and fishing permits.

Boat launch access and overnight boat storage are available for guests at an additional cost.

Tennis & Pickleball

Our four lit hard-surface courts offer a welcoming place for players of every skill level to enjoy time on the court. Whether you’re trying something new or getting in a few rounds with friends, it’s an easy way to stay active and enjoy the mountain setting.

Rental Pricing:

  • Tennis Racquet: $3 full-day rental (includes balls)
  • Pickleball Wooden Paddle: $4 full-day rental (includes balls)

Reservations are required, and all players should check in at the Wellness Center front desk before heading to the courts.

Seasonal Racket Sport Programs

Beginning in March 2026, our Open Social Play sessions will resume. Courts 1 and 2 will be reserved five days a week from 8:30-10am for all racquet enthusiasts to enjoy friendly, social play.

  • Tennis: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
  • Pickleball: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday

Additional Information

  • Guests and homeowners are reminded to check in at the Wellness Center and scan in for all court reservations.
  • Normal court reservations remain free of charge and are still available for members and lodging guests.
  • Please visit the Wellness front desk for signups and questions
  • Membership discounts apply to the $10 and $25 fees. However, no additional discount is available for the $15 monthly membership.
