Can We Or Our Photographer Use A Drone To Film?

Out of safety concerns for members, guests, employees, and property, as well as respect for individual privacy, Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure restricts the operation and use of unmanned aerial systems, commonly known as drones.

Unauthorized Drone Use

The operation of drones by the general public, including recreational users, hobbyists, media, or journalists, is not permitted on Rumbling Bald property without prior written authorization. This includes drones used for photography, videography, or any other purpose.

This restriction applies to:

  • Drones launched from or landed on Rumbling Bald property
  • Drone operations intended to capture images or video of Rumbling Bald amenities, facilities, residences, events, guests, members, or staff for personal or commercial use

Operations from Off Property

While airspace is regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration, the unauthorized use, publication, or commercial use of images or video depicting Rumbling Bald property, amenities, or activities is not permitted without prior written approval.

Authorization Requirements

Any drone operation approved by Rumbling Bald must:

  • Be conducted by a properly licensed and insured drone pilot
  • Comply with all FAA rules and regulations, as well as applicable local, state, and federal laws
  • Meet Rumbling Bald insurance, indemnification, and liability requirements
  • Be limited to an approved purpose, time, and location

Approval is granted at the sole discretion of Rumbling Bald and may be revoked at any time.

  • Removal from the property
  • Suspension of guest or member privileges
  • Additional action as permitted by law or applicable regulatory agencies

Do You Have Inside Reception Space?

Yes. Our Lakeview Terrace can be transformed into an “inside” reception space.  We have custom-made transparent panels that cover the windows and openings of the Terrace. These panels block the wind or rain, but are unobtrusive and you will still have the magnificent view of Lake Lure.  We also offer heaters for those cooler evenings.
