Apple Valley is the rarest of layouts. Routed through the Blue Ridge foothills surrounding scenic Lake Lure, this course is everything you want in a Western North Carolina mountain setting. Golf course architect Dan Maples, son of famed Ellis Maples, designed Apple Valley with the vast majority of holes playing either level or downhill. Stretching to 6,800 yards from the tips, it has hosted numerous championships and tournaments. Checking in at just over 6,300 yards, it is one of the only courses in the region featuring five par 3s and five par 5s. That includes both an opening and closing three-shotter, the 496-yard first hole, and the 479-yard 18th. Purchasing new machinery and adding to our staff have given us the tools we need to attack some of the often neglected areas of golf courses,” detailed Adam Bowles, Director of Golf at Rumbling Bald. “We have been working hard this off-season to continue to add to the experience of playing these two very different, but very fun golf courses. That’s just the outside. The inside of each pro shop has seen a major renovation with new paint, flooring, televisions, and displays that will now truly reflect the vision of what we are trying to accomplish with our merchandise selection.”
