Melissa and Scott met in the summer of 2011 in New Orleans, where Scott was teaching marine science at Isidore Newman and Melissa was completing her doctoral studies in anthropology at Tulane. Their first date was at The Delachaise, a wine bistro, and the couple talked late into the evening, staying until the bar closed. Two days later, they met for their second date at a water park, and they decided to begin a relationship. They have been together ever since. Melissa and Scott now teach at rival independent high schools in Miami, Florida, and they are elated to have found their intellectual match in each other. They have formed an adorable family with their three furry children (cats Dante, Darwin, and Delilah) and anticipate that they may eventually produce another human. When time permits, they love to travel to visit friends and family, and one of their favorite places in the world is the beautiful mountains of North Carolina—thus making Lake Lure the perfect gathering space for their November wedding.
